SARASOTA, FL - Work begins today for the man that officials hope can help solve the local problem of homelessness.
City and county leaders agreed to hire Robert Marbut to assess the situation here and recommend fixes.
He has helped other cities around the country plan for more affordable housing, and emergency shelters.
Marbut feels the Suncoast has enough resources, but better coordination is needed.
ABC 7 Reporter Trevor Shirley is following the story.

Quite bad... they smell.. they are criminals. They are uneducated, drug abusers.
Shame, that's how I feel with society. I'm ashamed. I'm known of those, stereotypes. Educated,.published author, Jackie of all trades. I lost my employer, my home, lived in motels. Told I was neglecting my child, removed said child placed child with father. Who, off he had paid support it wouldn't have been this way.
I've been given awful looks, told I'm a crack prostitute, called names and ran from one city as houselessness (homelessness) is illegal there.
I'm not garbage, I'm not uneducated. I'm jobless, homeless, not a killer. So when you see a vagrant don't assume you know that individuals story. Thanks from me TT Houseless
